Haiti’s future has more promise with the Build Haiti Foundation achievements. If there is to be seeds of hope, it will occur because of a new path forward. This new BHF website reflects this promise!
Success comes with collaboration! The future looks brighter than the present as the Build Haiti Foundation has been working effectively with immigrants of the Haitian diaspora to improve their access to health care, education and employment in the U.S. along with providing successful Haitian expats with opportunities to give back to their homeland their talent and a measure of their resources.
We know we cannot use the same tactics that had been applied in the past. We understand non-profit organizational aid normally starts in the major cities; we will conduct operations in the most remote, decentralized corners. When traditional aid uses the technical expertise of foreigners, we will devise a system around Haitian locals.
The most basic thing Haiti requires for a brighter future is education, Potential partnerships in the design of projects that advance the Build Haiti Foundation’s vision for a decentralized, cooperative network of empowered Haitian urban and rural settlements exists with academic and civic minded organizations such as the Roi Christophe University in Cap Haitian and the International Rotary.
Partnering U.S. youth leaders and adult mentors with their Haitian equivalents in Haiti with the establishment of the Global Leadership Program will promote resourcefulness, critical thinking and empowerment to tackle the challenging health, education and environmental issues facing Haiti.
Similarly the Build Haiti Foundation has been working in Haiti to secure a culturally rich and vibrant economic future with the development of the Sister City relationship between Columbia, Maryland and Cap Haitien, Haiti.
