Global Leadership Program
One of the most valuable resources for learning is from peer leaders with different cultural perspectives. To facilitate this exposure the Maryland based Build Haiti Foundation has established the Global Leadership Program (GLP). The GLP has been initially marketed to student leaders in Maryland and BHF has used its contacts in Haiti to attract Haitian students with leadership potential. Youth leadership development is the primary GLP goal and this will be accomplished through interactive discussions with adult mentors on public health, environmental sustainability and social entrepreneurship.
These interactive workshops are complemented with service and leadership projects in the village of Camp Coq near the city of Cap Haitien in the north of Haiti. We also look for other public facilities that may need to be renovated or simply in need of touch-up and rally the community around the project and address it. These activities benefit both Haitian and U.S. youth leaders. The program is aimed at helping them become more globally minded and inspired to continue to “lift” the Haitian people to a brighter future. Student’s ability to understand and explain cultural differences can make an enormous difference in facilitating and enhancing communications among different interacting ethnicities. BHF programs specifically target developing sensitivity and understanding of other ethnic groups, particularly Haitians.
Student Scholarship Program

Recognizing the value of education for self-sufficiency, the Build Haiti Foundation has provided scholarship support to students who have demonstrated integrity and academic promise. Additionally BHF has provided educational materials and programmatic support to four schools in the Camp Coq community.
Grassroots Organizations Support & Training
One of the projects that BHF is currently working on in partnership with the local library is to assist them to create a registration system for registering the local non-profit and help these organizations to build capacity so that they may take a leading role in developing their community. This approach will allow better engagement, less duplication and better coordination with other supportive organizations.
Sports and Music Programs
Haiti, like many other developing countries, is a male dominated society that often neglects the needs of its female citizens. It has been proven times and times again that Haitian economy lies on the back of Haitian mothers. For sports and music, it is no different. BHF is trying to change that by implementing programs to incorporate other sports in addition to soccer such as Volleyball, basketball, tennis, etc. Your support is very important to change the course of history. Haiti needs to engage all her sons and daughters in order for her to have a chance.
